Amer is troba in a petita vall between them coMarquess of the Forest, to the qual pertany administrativament, i the Garrotxa, amb qui you share the tipus of vegetació, fauna i orography; to mig camí between Girona i Olot. The morphology d’Amer sees the fluvial vall of Brugent i marked per the seva mouth to the Ter, to the area més page of Sant Climent, knave els penya-segats with Sant Roc.

The nucli urbà d’Amer s’ha anat formant to the voltant of the medieval nucli of the monestir i l’antic camí that comunicava Girona i Olot. Plaça de la Vila, a plaça porxada quadrangular, tea the seu origin in the medieval mercat. Els edificis i porxos, tots diferents, that form actualment són of the segle XIX i in fan a hereditary element of big interès. The big plaça porxada, one of them més grans of Catalunya d'aquest tipus, presents a unitary imatge clarament, tot i that és formed per edificacions molt diverses.

To the vora of the Riubrugent, the bank bosc, in molt bon estat of conservació, permet to be still a bonic passeig to l’ombra. Tot aquest entorn ofereix to the visitant multitude of circuits tant per com passejades to peu, give to BTT of Sant Martí Sacalm i the pantà of Susqueda fins Sant Julià of the Llor, Bonmatí i Sant Roc. They rutes they are senyalitzades partint of diferents punts of the nucli urbà i cap is dirigeixen als Three Rocs, Puig Dalí, the Mont, the Fusada, i they ermites of Sant Martí, Sant Genís, Saint Brígida. Grup Excursionista Esquelles i Projecte Rius hi organitzen sortides periòdiques.

Between them festes the popular festa of Font Picant stands out, that the third juliol i dissabte is celebrated the festa major, which s'escau 15 i 16 d'agost. On the 16th tea lloc the sardana of l'alcalde, initiated per l'alcalde i the seva parella to the plaça porxada, on is a form a sardana that not tanca mai l'anella.
